What is an Email Catchall Account?
An Email catchall account is an account that is used for a domain to catch all of the email addressed to the domain name that has no email accounts setup in the domain. The catchall account ensures that the business or domain won't miss any email addressed incorrectly by a sender. The sender may have misspelled a user name or the email account may no longer exist. If the email address is incorrect for the domain then it will be received into the catchall account. The designated catchall account may have any name that is desired or it maybe the webmasters email account so that the mail is regularly reviewed.
You can only set up one email address as a catch-all account for your domain name.
One other purpose for a catchall account may be for receiving excessive spam mail. You might want to set this account to have a little more space than your general email accounts.
